PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
Postgraduate programmes leading to the degree of Ph.D Geology may be organized on a full-time or part-time basis. Candidates for the Ph.D programmes may be required to pass a qualifying examination and/or undergo a probationary period not exceeding twelve (12) months. After registration each full-time candidate shall pursue the programme for not less than twenty-four (24) calendar months and not more than sixty (60) calendar months. After registration each part-time candidate for the degree of Ph.D shall pursue the programme for not less than thirty-six (36) calendar months and not more than eighty-four (84) calendar months. Candidates for the degree of Ph.D shall be examined by: a) Written examination on coursework where applicable; b) Presentation of at least two seminars; c) An examination on the thesis before a panel of External and Internal Examiners based on the material of the dissertation as well as the general knowledge of the field in which the subject for research has been chosen shall form part of the overall examination.PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
