Research Grants

Researchers across various fields have topics to research from time to time and they often require research grants for their projects. If you are a lecturer or student and have an idea for an excellent research project that requires research grants, you may consider using the ‘Nuguide Research Grants’ open call. Research awards vary and they can be made to qualified individuals, research teams or institutions to enable them carry out both standard and high quality research study in their chosen or agreed area.

A great deal of flexibility is applicable to subject areas. The research work will however have academic relevance or have development and social impact.

Application deadline

There are no deadlines for applications to this call. Applications can be made at any time of the year. Early applications are highly encouraged as it may take up to three months for a decision to be made on an application. Decisions on applications depend on sufficient peer review comments. Applications should be made not later than six months to the start date for the intended research project. For example, an application should be made not later than 31st August 2016 for a research work that is intended to start by 1st March 2017.

Research location

Research projects within Nigeria are mostly encouraged. However, applications for research projects within the African continent will also be considered.

Duration of research

Some research projects run longer than others. They may be short-term or long-term research work. Irrespective of the length of your research project (weeks, months or years), you will be covered if your application is successful.

International collaboration and funding

We welcome applications for research work between universities or between countries. The universities or countries will however be expected to be within Africa.

Application outcome

Whether your application succeeds or not will depend largely on the quality and content of your application. So, it is important that you have a good understanding of what is required before you submit your application.
