PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
The Post Graduate Urban and Regional Planning Programme at Ahmadu Bello University runs for a minimum of two years for the training of professional planners in the case of the MSc (Urban and Regional Planning) and professional level urban development managers and tourism planning practitioners. It offers to successful candidates the Master of Science Degree in the respective fields. The courses, as presently structured, comprise a number of core subjects in each of the three areas, together with a number of courses in the related disciplines. Students are involved in studio project work, in both the first and second years of study. Studio projects are designed to expose students to a diversity of planning experiences, as a vital part of training. The programme also involves a thesis during the second year, which must be defended at a “crit” (jury defense) to the satisfaction of internal and external examiners. Students are drawn from a variety of disciplines such as Surveying, Architecture, Planning, Engineering, Geography, Transport Studies, Social Sciences, Law, etc. This diversity reflects the inter-disciplinary nature of the planning profession. A good Honours Degree in any of the above fields is the basic requirement for admission.PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
