Qualifications
The National Universities Commission (NUC) is the government-owned regulatory body that approves universities and accredits university courses in Nigeria. Hence, certificates obtained from all government approved universities in Nigeria are valid and recognized within and outside of Nigeria by academic institutions and employers of labour

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) is a regional examination body operating in five WEST AFRICAN COUNTRIES namely: Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra-Leon, and the Gambia.

To gain admission into any Nigerian university, certificates obtained through WAEC and NECO are acceptable. However, were this is lacking or available but has a deficiency; the pre-degree route may also be followed onto a degree programme. Provided the applicant meets all the general entrance requirements.
There are also specific entrance requirements for some programmes or courses; this is particularly true for those that offer direct entry routes. It is advisable that you check the requirements for the course you intend to apply for.
