Our teachers’ aid programme serves as a platform for accelerating, creating and sharing professional knowledge and promoting best educational practices for teachers. It is designed to assist teachers in self-development and subject area knowledge enhancement. It is implemented through seminars, workshops and exposure to teaching and learning methods of the 21st century. Every teacher rightly deserves to have a top-notch knowledge of his or her field to be able to impact meaningful knowledge in learners — Nuguide succumbs to this fact.
The world of education is constantly changing. It is not static rather it is dynamic. Both teaching and learning methods change from time to time. Teachers as well as students also need to learn how to move along with the changes as they pertain to their learning and teaching methods.
The teaching profession requires training and re-training to adapt to current trends. Teachers need to be equipped with both basic and advanced teaching skills of the 21st century so that they can pass on those skills to students.
Meeting challenges of learning technologies
We are in a digital world in which the teaching profession has been positively affected digitally. The most challenging factor facing teachers today is the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to support teaching. Teachers can only use ICT tools effectively in an environment conducive for learning. Availability of such tools is one thing while ability to use it is another thing.
Training the trainers
Teachers are not educational technologists. They do need to be trained constantly on how to effectively use technology is the classroom. Through the Nuguide-VLE arm, Nuguide develops teaching aid and regularly train teachers on how to effectively use technology in the classroom. Organizing seminars for teachers and developing curriculum related teaching materials form a great part of our effort to assist in training the trainers.
